Marketing and Communications Department- Part 2

Hello all! It’s Anthony Ferrentino again reporting on the progress of my internship with the Marketing and Communications Department here at Bloomsburg University. For the past couple of weeks I have been very busy working on many different projects for the university. These projects have been significantly different from the usual ones I have been working on which is pretty exciting. I got to play the role of photojournalist the other day and sit in on a lecture with a camera during the L.E.A.D. summer camp. The camp took high achieving minority students from local high schools and brought them here, to the university, for a three day summer camp focused on getting these students into the field of primary, secondary and special education. The interesting and fun part however, came when I was able to have sit down interviews with two of the students I had observed and, using their testimony and photos, create a story for the magazine with everything I had collected.

I also worked on a few other pieces for the magazine, such as a piece on a possible new major coming to the university and a piece on an award that Dr. Presswood received over the summer. Besides direct university business, I also work with the social media of the university and have written recommendations for both movies and reading material on Pintrest.

Currently, I am working on a few things. The big one being the coordination of August CRQ, or the Communications Review Quarterly, in which I will be working on putting together most of the material created for the Communications Department over these past months and turning it into a report. It sounds pretty daunting but I think I’ll make the best of it.

For now, I’m just enjoying this experience and seeing what else lies in wait.
